The main stage theater alone is 43,000 square feet.

A small team runs production: Jillian Gonzalez and Keesha Anderson in New York, Sophie in London, backed by a production agency team of roughly 50 people and hundreds of vendors.

Planning starts years ahead. Venues get locked through 2028 to 2030 already, with detailed planning kicking into gear six to nine months before each show.

The expo floor nearly doubles in size this year, growing from one stage to three and from one lounge to three, two of them built for networking.

Once the floor starts going up at the Javits Center, the job becomes real-time problem solving. Staying calm under pressure is a practiced skill, not an instinct.

How an empty floor at the Javits Center becomes two days of momentum for 5,000 people.

Right now, the section of the Javits Center that Elevate will fill in October is just floor. By the time the doors open on October 28, none of the work that got it there will be visible. That’s the point.

We sat down with Jillian Gonzalez, Global Events and Production Lead, to find out what actually happens between empty floor and day one. Her answers were more specific, and more human, than the polished version anyone sees from the audience.

How big is Elevate ’26, really?

Big enough that Jillian pulled up the floor plans mid-conversation to check her own numbers. The main stage theater alone, just the seating area, not counting the backstage or video village, comes in at 43,000 square feet. The full production spans three floors of the Javits Center. This year, the team is building for roughly 5,000 attendees, more than double what came through the doors last year.

Elevate is built by a full team that lives and breathes it all year, across program, marketing, tech, and creative. This piece zooms in on just one part of that: production. That team stays small and mighty by design: Jillian and Keesha Anderson in New York, and Sophie in London, backed by a production agency team of around 50 people, an estimated several hundred vendors, and every cross-functional team at monday.com with a stake in the event. Together, they’re the ones making it all come to life. “Everybody else is the puzzle pieces, and we’re the puzzle board,” Jillian says.

        Behind the build

“If something needs to happen, we need to help figure out a place for it and where exactly it will go, and make sure that everything goes together in a way that makes sense for somebody experiencing it.”

            Jillian Gonzalez
            Global Events and Production Lead

How far in advance does this actually get planned?

Longer than most people would guess. Venue availability for 5,000 people doesn’t appear on short notice, so Jillian’s team is already locking down Elevate’s venues for 2028 through 2030 while this year’s event is still being built. Planning “in earnest” starts around March, six to nine months out, which is when messaging and the general shape of the event get set. Everything after that becomes execution. And every post-event survey and postmortem feeds straight into the next cycle. “We’re already using that to inform the decisions that are going to be made about the following year,” she says.

The three months before doors open aren’t defined by one hardest month. They’re just consistently intense, start to finish.

What actually happens once the floor starts to change?

This is where planning meets improvisation. Once the team is inside the Javits Center building the physical show, decisions get made fast, often with incomplete information. “In a way, decisions can almost be easier,” she says, “because you’re dealing with such limited options and time frames that it’s just like you have to just go.”

Staying level through moments like that isn’t instinct so much as a practiced habit. “It’s practice and it’s observation,” Jillian says.

She’ll admit to treating someone else’s panic as a quiet, private contest: how calm can she stay while everyone around her is losing it.

“It never seemed like the people who were frantic were as effective or productive as the ones who were calm and could just take care of business.”

What do people get wrong about an event this size?

Mostly the scale itself. Jillian says even people inside monday.com who own one piece of the production, whether that’s a single session, a booth, or a workstream, tend to lose sight of how many other pieces are moving at the same time, until they physically walk the floor.

“People will show up… and they go, wow, I didn’t realize how big this is. It’s one thing to know Elevate has 5,000 attendees on paper. It’s a different thing to stand inside a 43,000-square-foot room and feel it.”

Why does Elevate feel different from other events she’s run?

Jillian’s path into this job wasn’t a straight line. She started at Comedy Central working on merchandise, DVDs, and comedy tours and festivals, eventually helping launch the network’s own festival. From there she moved to Amsterdam to work with a Dutch production company on tech events, then joined Snapchat’s Global Brand Experience team running large summits, before landing at monday.com.

By her own comparison, Elevate is smaller and more straightforward than some of the events she’s built, but harder in execution because of how deeply the product runs through it. At many large events, a product lives via one demo or keynote.

At Elevate, every part of the monday.com platform has a presence somewhere on the floor. “It’s extremely generalized,” she says. “It’s a conference for everyone, but it’s about one thing. It’s both extremely broad but extremely narrow.” She calls it the most product-immersive event she’s owned start to finish.

What’s actually new on the show floor this year?

The expo floor is roughly double last year’s size, and the number of stages on it grows from one to three. It’s also getting three lounges, two of them dedicated to networking, up from just one lounge last year. For attendees, that means more room to move, and, according to Jillian, an easier floor to navigate despite the bigger footprint, since each area gets space to do its own thing instead of competing for the same corner. What she’s most looking forward to is watching people spend real time with the product itself, and with the people who build it every day, since the platform has changed substantially since last year.

What does the team feel when it’s finally over?

There’s a ritual: a champagne toast the moment the last session ends. Last year, Jillian and Sophie held hands and jumped up and down. But the exhaustion that follows has less to do with the two show days than with the months leading into them, which are often harder than the event itself. And the job doesn’t stop when the lights come up. Closing out costs, building recap decks, and delivering the data every team was promised turns into what Jillian calls “another sprint after the event,” one enough people underestimate that some try to book a vacation right after and regret it.

The moment she actually holds onto is smaller than any of that. She tries to be standing in the room when the keynote starts, lights down, the crowd settled, right before the magic happens. “That makes it feel like a real putting-on-a-show moment,” she says. “That’s always fun.”

It’s also the moment when 12 individual months of planning become two days that people actually get to feel, whether or not they ever know what it took to get there.

Elevate ’26 takes place October 28 and 29 at the Javits Center in New York City, with a pre-conference Certification Day on October 27.

FAQs about producing Elevate

How much bigger is Elevate ’26 than last year?

The team is building for roughly 5,000 attendees this year, more than double last year’s audience, with an expo floor about twice the size and five stages instead of one.

Is the Javits Center accessible?

Yes.
